Aided by crews on two golf-cart style mini-pumpers, which were able to access the areas east of the race track, fire protection was preserved.
Fire Rescue NSW officers were stationed within race control and had conditions necessitated, racing would have been suspended to allow other fire trucks to enter the area.
Fortunately, no major fires occurred, and crews within the race precinct were able to extinguish two small rubbish fires without additional assistance.
Firefighters provided first aid throughout the event, and assisted ambulance officers in several instances.
Last Thursday, eight Fire Rescue NSW crews were called upon to put out a fire in a two-level townhouse at Cooks Hill.
Firefighters initially entered the burning building to conduct a search and rescue, to verify that no one was still inside.
Once the all-clear was given, they commenced attack on the fire which was burning fiercely in a bedroom on the second level.
Fire crews established a cut-off point to stop the fire spreading further and were able to contain the blaze to the room of origin. The townhouse suffered significant smoke and heat damage.
