The three-year global Farewell Yellow Brick Road is expected to be the curtain call for the legendary performer in Australia, and from touring.
The tour began in September 2018 and is designed to celebrate the half a century Elton John and lyricist Bernie Taupin have collaborated.
“I always love coming back to Australia,” John said in a statement. “Ever since my first visit in 1971 it has held a very special place in my heart.”
“I plan to bring to my final tour the passion and creativity that has entertained my fans for decades … it’s the most produced and fantastic show I’ve ever done.
“I want to go out with a bang.”
Featuring images and videos from throughout his five decades performing, the show is expected to offer a rare and intimate glimpse into the performer’s life.
If the tour is indeed Elton John’s last, it caps a career that has included 196 concerts on these shores to 1.5 million fans. He opened the Perth Arena and was the final artist to play the demolished Sydney Entertainment Centre before its demise in 2015.
During that time he has visited the Hunter for several performances, including a 2007 vineyard show and a Hope Estate performance in 2015.
The tour also includes three shows in Sydney and one in Bathurst.
Elton John will play Hope Estate on January 11 2020. Tickets for his NSW shows are available through Ticketek.
