AUSTRALIAN voters and the general public are sick to death of hearing and suffering from the demise of four prime ministers over the last five years, and rightly so. If you, the voters at the next federal election in May 2019, want to make this five from six years the by all means vote Labor, if not then please vote Liberal. I believe if the Coalition wins the election, we will at least have stability for a period of eight years and maybe we will get some solid directions put in place, something we all yearn for.

MALCOLM Turnbull has now decided that he is no longer going to remain in the background after his defeat by Scott Morrison. I suppose that being stabbed in the back by your colleagues would leave a nasty taste in your mouth, but if you genuinely believe in your party’s aims and goals surely you can refrain from trying to undermine their campaign by saying you could have beaten Bill Shorten (ABC 8/3)? The only thing Malcolm Turnbull is beating is himself. It’s about time politicians concentrated on important issues like health and fair wages.

DOES anyone else resent the fact that, when lining up at an express check-out and waiting for all those at the smoke counter to be served, when it is my turn to be served and someone arrives at the smoke counter that arrived after me that they take precedence over everyone else? My grievance is that those wanting to be served at the smoke counter should also wait in line at the designated check-out. This would reduce stress for those wanting to be served in the express lane and reduce stress for the employee who has to put up with angry customers that are being told to wait. Other than that, have someone dedicated to serving those at the smoke counter.

I READ Bill Hardes' cruel comments aimed at Ms Massey (Short Takes 6/3) over the Singleton brumby cull. So Bill, how about you prove to us interested readers that this shooting was done humanely? Let us know that the slaughter of the brumbies at the Guy Fawkes National Park was completed to your liking also. Instead of being so malicious towards Ms Massey and asking so many questions, why don't you do something constructive which could go towards the stopping of this shooting of these horses in the future? While you are at it, let us know the actual name of the association you claim is saving the cane toads.

LATE Thursday evening, a beautiful person rescued our black Labrador who had left home through an open gate and delivered him safely to the Animal Emergency Centre in Broadmeadow. But for this person’s generosity of time and spirit, I could have had a very different story to tell my two children today, whose first action every morning is to greet their beloved Murphy. I hope my family’s profound thanks reach this person.

ROBERT Green (Short Takes 5/3), it’s not toot toot, it's now clang clang. Seamlessly modern.
