The under-16 Sydney Swans and GIANTS AFL female academy sides have been announced ahead of the upcoming academy series in Blacktown.
The two sides were selected following the Your Local Club Academy Games, hosted in the Hunter last month, and will travel to Sydney for matches against each other on May 25 and June 2.
Hunter Academy of Sport is lucky enough to be represented by AFL athlete Sophie Clancy, who was selected from the tournament to play for the Sydney Swans.
Another of the HAS AFL stars, Tahlia Thompson, was selected in the under-18 AFL NSW/ACT Rams youth girls squad after two, two-day trials in Canberra and Sydney.
The squad had their training camp earlier this month in Coffs Harbour ahead of the upcoming 2019 AFL Women's Under-18 Championships. The Rams won all three matches against Northern Territory, Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast Academies.
