A Hamilton East property that had been in the same family for over 50 years sold under the hammer last Saturday for the suburb's second-top mark of $1.97 million, according to Australian Property Monitors data.

The six-bedroom Californian Bungalow at 33 Hebburn Street was on 1046 square metres of land and sold by Walkom Real Estate's Kate Rundle. According to APM data, the top Hamilton East sale is $2.8 million, paid for an Everton Street house in April last year.

Ms Rundle also sold a sixth-floor, two-bedroom apartment in the Royal at 52/1 King Street opposite Newcastle beach for $1.05 million within its first week on the market. The $600,000 sale of a one-bedroom apartment in nearby Arena at S404/77 Shortland Esplanade was described by Raine and Horne's Patrick Collins as "an outstanding result".
A three-bedroom home at 162 Lindsay Street in Hamilton was sold by First National Newcastle City for $595,000 after six days on the market.
Dalton Partners' Andrew McGavin reported good interest in a three-bedroom waterfront townhouse at 1/18 The Lane at Maryville before its $1.19 million sale. In Garden Suburb, a four-bedroom home at 1 Whitegum Way was sold prior to auction by McGrath New Lambton for an undisclosed sum above its guide of $700,000 to $770,000.
