Coming in at No.6 and not even halfway towards Toronto's total of 8-148 at Cahill Oval, Gillard made 35 not out to help guide the hosts to victory with four wickets in hand and 2.5 overs left.
"It was a fair innings for a 15-year-old. Some blokes wouldn't play that until they're 35," Hainsworth said.
"It was a sticky situation, but he and Jace [Lawson] put on the match-winning partnership. And even after Jace got out there was still some work to do.
"There's not much of him, but he never panicked or got flustered. Just kept the game moving with ones and twos.
"He batted with no fear, I think that's the best way to describe it."
