The Magpies went close last season but were unable to secure an outright result and Dickson wants to ensure the visitors get across the line at Cahill Oval on Saturday.
"We didn't get one [outright] last season even though we went close a few times," Dickson said.
"We had chances but didn't quite capitalise, so to get one in our first game [two-dayer] would be spectacular."
The Magpies made 178 after initially dismissing the hosts for 61.
"It was a very good showing," Dickson said.
"We had a little chat at the end about batsman taking a bit more responsibility, especially after going from 1-74 to 9-114, but overall it was ideal."
Charlestown's Isaac Wallace took 4-6 with his off-spinners and then scored 59 batting at No.10.
"Wally played exceptionally," Dickson said. "He bowled really well and then followed it up with the bat. We were all up after that."
Two points separate Charlestown (16) and Belmont (14) in what is a mid-table logjam after the opening five one-day fixtures.
The Magpies could jump from a four-way share of fourth to stand-alone third if they manage to collect all 10 points on offer.
