A gold Toyota Camry, driven by a 60-year-old woman, was travelling south on the Pacific Highway at Jewells about 10.20am on March 25 when it collided with a westbound silver Camry - being driven by a 73-year-old woman - at the intersection of Ntaba Road.
Both drivers suffered serious injuries and were taken to John Hunter Hospital, where they each remain in a critical condition.
A crime scene was established by Lake Macquarie police with the circumstances of the crash being investigated by the Hunter Crash Investigation Unit.
As inquiries continue, investigators are requesting anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who has dashcam footage, to contact police.
