The "Gidley flick" pass has become one of the most emulated moves for a centre in the game, and in episode seven of the Toohey's News podcast, the former Newcastle Knight reveals how he developed his now-famous technique.
On the field, Gidley was a renowned centre of more than 200 games. Off the field, as a club administrator, he worked through some of the club's most tumultuous years.
In a broad-ranging interview, Gidley opens up on the Knights' tempestuous Tinkler era, the tragic accident that befell star player Alex McKinnon, his working relationship with renowned coach Wayne Bennett, and the months of work that went into signing the club's modern star and marquee player Kalyn Ponga.
