Richards said he'd been in contact with Damian Zane, who will take over as head coach at Broadmeadow next year and finished with rivals Edgeworth on Monday, but didn't expect him to play a role at his new club until "later" in 2020. Magic were already on the search for a new coach in 2021 after Richards indicated last month he wouldn't continue because of personal reasons.
Richards also said Broadmeadow players would now receive payments of some description this campaign with the easing of state government restrictions meaning limited crowds are allowed to attend fixtures.
"There's no distractions any more," Richards said.
"There had been some uncertainty and stress for the players, but now they can just get out there and play."
According to Richards the forced break had allowed players such as James Virgilli a chance to recover from injuries and given the group time to adjust to life without the likes of Mitch Oxborrow, Kale Bradbery, Kristian Brymora, Justin Broadley, Josh Piddington and Paul Bitz.
Broadmeadow travel to meet Valentine on Sunday.
