The South Australian government is allowing NSW citizens to enter its state on the Sturt Highway provided they do not stop in Victoria.
SA Premier Steven Marshall said it was logical given motorists otherwise had to travel via Broken Hill for a sealed crossing.
"A lot of people have made the very common sense suggestion that we provide this relief and it has been taken up by the transition committee," Mr Marshall said on Tuesday.
The NSW government did not confirm if the deal applied for those travelling from SA.
When asked whether those travelling from SA, via the Sturt Highway in Victoria, would be able to enter NSW, the Health Minister's office was non-committal.
"The border arrangements are in place to safeguard the NSW community against the spread of the virus and these arrangements are under constant review," a ministerial spokesperson said.
Victorians remain barred from SA because of COVID however the Festival State on Tuesday moved to extend its border bubble with its neighbour by 30 kilometres to 70 kilometres.
