Journalists Matthew Kelly, Donna Page, Helen Gregory and Anita Beaumont won the Walkley Award for coverage of community and regional affairs for their Your Right to Know series.
Those of us who work with Matthew, Donna, Helen and Anita didn't need an award to know that they are great journalists and great people. But in what has been a challenging year, it was wonderful to see them get a reward so richly deserved. We're all immensely proud of them.
The Walkley Awards are the highest honour in Australian journalism. The Herald newsroom has collected 11 Walkleys in the past eight years.
That exciting news was followed by the launch of our new app. The app is exclusive to our digital subscribers and it means the Herald's journalism will be easier to access than ever before.
With one tap on the homepage of your mobile phone or tablet, you'll be taken to a fast-loading, clean and well organised home for the hundreds of articles the Herald writes about our community every week.
We appreciate your support and know many of you have been waiting patiently for our app to arrive.
With a sweltering Sunday ahead, it could be the perfect time to download the app, find a nice, cool spot and enjoy some relaxing reading.
If you have any feedback on our app please email feedback@newcastleherald.com.au. If you love it please give us a five-star rating in the App Store and let your friends know about it.
Have a great day.
