Midnight Sea crossed from box eight and quickly took over in a 400-metre race at the track on Friday on the way to a 5.25-length victory in 23.00 seconds.
Go Bess backed that up on Saturday night at the track with a first win since November last year and a fourth in 19 career starts. Initially a reserve, Go Bess gained a start in box three and led before showing strength late to hold out Banjo's Rival by 1.25 lengths in the 515m race.
"She's starting to figure out what racing is all about," Chris said of Midnight Sea.
"She's getting a bit smarter with her runs and it's been good for the owners. They've invested a bit of time into her and they are starting to reap the rewards now.
"Go Bess has been trialling really well but she's been a bit inconsistent with her form.
"The last couple of weeks she's been going OK. I've had her in a few clearance trials leading up to it and I thought she would go all right yesterday, having drawn in a bit closer to the fence.
"I thought she might get out in front and pinch it. She found a bit late and got away with it, which was good, because early on in the 500s she was a bit weak at the end.
"I've put a bit more work into her and she seems to be finding the line a little bit better."
