Broadmeadow and Newcastle Olympic have the top-two positions well and truly sewn up but the battle for third and fourth is set to go down the wire with five games left.
The Panthers went into the weekend double-header with Mid Coast in Taree in fifth place with 22 points, three points adrift of fourth.
But they finished the weekend on 28 and level terms with Adamstown, who were 3-1 winners over the Magpies (24) at Cooks Square Park on Sunday. Warners Bay and Adamstown cannot be separated on goal difference.
Elodie Dagg scored a double as Warners Bay won 2-0 on Saturday then Lilly-Jane Babic produced the sole goal in a 1-0 win on Sunday.
Warners Bay coach Craig Atkins said there should have been more goals but they "ticked off what we needed to do".
"We got the six points we were after, so that's all that matters," Atkins said. "The surface was very tricky, very bumpy to play on, so two wins, six points and two clean sheets is a job well done."
The Magpies (24) slipped from fourth to fifth as they succumbed to Rosebud, who have now won four in a row. It was the first time Adamstown had beaten Maitland in three encounters this season.
The visitors led 3-0 at the break. Kiarra Lewis only had goalkeeper Imogene Tomasone to beat after Jenna Doyle slipped a neat ball through Maitland's last line to find her in front of goal in the 11th minute.
Imanee Burke made it 2-0 in the 32nd when she finished at the near post after Doyle took a free kick from the right sideline. Tomasone and Rosebud striker Ella Spicer ended in a tangle in the box after colliding when both challenged for the high ball and Burke poked the loose ball into the net with her left foot.
The third goal came from the penalty spot after Maitland handballed in the box. Lewis stepped up and fired the ball straight into the centre of the net.
The hosts hit back in the 53rd through Mercedes McNabb, who made a solo run down the right, cut in and went straight past a sliding Adamstown shot-stopper Olivia Sneddon to easily slot into an open goal.
Adamstown coach Ryan Campbell felt they let Maitland back into the match in the second half but was happy to walk away with the important win.
"That result is sort of worth double points because you're playing against someone who also needed the points, so it was good to take some points off them," Campbell said.
Georgia Amess scored a brace and Jemma House, Laura Hall, Jess Evans and Rosie Copus also got on the scoresheet as Olympic (42) were 6-0 winners over New Lambton (3) at Alder Park on Saturday.
Chelsea Lucas scored a hat-trick as Magic (43) downed Charlestown (18) 3-0 at Lisle Carr Oval on Friday night.
