A NEWCASTLE daycare centre has been forced to close for cleaning after a COVID-19 alert.

The Hub Preschool at Waratah told parents via email on Sunday that a positive COVID case had attended the centre last week.
It said the periods of concern were Tuesday, August 24 from 3.45pm to 4.15pm; Wednesday August 25 from 4pm to 4.30pm; and, Thursday, August 26 from 4.15pm to 4.45pm.
It said that all teachers, students and parents who attended the school in those periods was considered close contacts and would be contacted to be tested and isolate.
The school said it was arranging cleaning and would be closed on Monday and potentially Tuesday.
The Hunter recorded seven new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.
Earlier, Hunter New England Health announced a series of new exposure sites.
Hunter New England Health listed new COVID-19 exposure sites on Sunday as: Kinn Thai, Westfield Kotara: Wednesday, August 25 from 6.30pm-6.40pm. Subway, Market Place, Raymond Terrace: Wednesday, August 25 from 11.55am-12pm. Wok Express 88, Raymond Terrace: Wednesday, August 25 from 12pm-12.05pm. Barrington Bakery, Raymond Terrace: Thursday, August 26 from 3.45pm-3.50pm.
