Cahill was named in the national age squad on Friday following a series of practice matches in Adelaide this week, eventually getting the nod to contest the prestigious tournament in the West Indies in January.
"It's a tremendous performance and well deserved," Marjoribanks told the Newcastle Herald.
"He's a terrific young cricketer with a bright future."
IN THE NEWS:
Cahill follows in the most recent footsteps of Wallsend junior and NSW squad member Jason Sangha, who captained Australia at the Under-19 World Cup in 2018.
Marjoribanks said other Newcastle players such as Greg Geise, Greg Arms and Tony Fort also represented the Australian under-19 team but didn't attend a World Cup.
The tournament was first held in 1988 but didn't reemerge again until 1998. It now takes place every two years.
Australia has won the title on three occasions with the likes of Josh Hazlewood, George Bailey, Stuart Law and the Marsh brothers, Mitch and Shaun, having lifted the trophy.
"You look at the Test side, Shield and Big Bash League and most of the guys have played Aussie under 19s," Marjoribanks said.
"It's great for Newcastle cricket."
