"It was absolutely amazing," event organiser Deb Austin told the Newcastle Herald. "Considering the weather that was going around we were incredibly lucky to have such a perfect weekend."
While the call was made on Friday to cancel ring events, including the campdraft and demolition derby, Ms Austin said spectacles such as the stunt cars and camel races drew consistent crowds.
"We also had a wagon going around drawn by camels which is something we've never seen at the show before," she said. "We had over 100 rides that were packed on Saturday night. I was speaking to one vendor who sold 400 pizzas in 4 hours, while another sold 240kg of potatoes in the same time."
Looking ahead to next year and the return of ring events, Ms Austin said the show is a perfect opportunity to "bring the country to the city".
