Newcastle rower Laura Dunn has claimed a silver medal at the world championships in Amsterdam as part of the Australian women’s lightweight quadruple sculls crew.

Dunn and her crew of Sarah Pound, Hannah Every-Hall and Maia Simmonds powered past early leaders China and also Germany in the final on Saturday morning but could not catch heat winners and gold medal favourites The Netherlands.
Dunn grew up in Belmont and attended Warners Bay High School and the Hunter School of Performing Arts before studying at the University of Technology in Sydney.
Now 26 and based in Sydney, Dunn is the first Hunter rower to make an Australian Senior A crew.
