Meet Starcrawler, the latest LA buzz band to emerge with their self-titled debut album, produced by Ryan Adams no less. Starcrawler aren’t doing anything new. At times it sounds like singer Arrow DeWilde, 18, is merely paying lip service to her parents’ record collection.
However, the record is riotously fun. You can’t help but be swept up in the swagger and energy of I Love LA or Let Her Be. Then there’s the Black Sabbath theatrics of Chicken Woman. DeWilde’s vocal delivery is mostly monotone, but it’s offset by 17-year-old guitarist Henri Cash’s superb shredding.
