About 35 independent craft brewers - some from as far as Western Australia - were showcased at the festival, which was being held for the sixth time.
Newcastle Beer Fest's Luke Tilse said the ongoing success of the festival had left him and his team pondering whether to stage a second event throughout the year.
"We've actually talked about doing a second fest in about six months, don't know what, but something else," he said.
"We've tossed a few ideas around like a meat festival, or an international beer festival.
"This is a tradeshow ... but we've had so much fun with the music, we thought maybe we'd do a more music-orientated festival and just run a bar with a few select craft breweries."
