THANKS to Mark Creek (Short Takes 24/6) for pointing out that Supercars took even more of our parks last year than the first year. How much more will our council give them this year? I notice that they didn't include whatever subsidies they gave to Supercars when releasing the details of the $180,000 grants for 2019 events.

DAVE McTaggart (Letters, 25/6), unfortunately you have totally missed my point. It was regarding the whinge that is coming from the Liberals regarding respect for the current office despite none being afforded to Julia Gillard during her tenure.
Shane Tull, Dudley
I BELIEVE John Church ('Why I'm voting against the council's budget', Opinion, 25/6) has enlightened the community with his opinion piece. We as ratepayers should be alarmed and angry. In my opinion we are funding a giant ego trip on behalf of this council for their poor decisions, from the Supercars debacle in a heritage area to a luxury penthouse in the new premises. This $9 million fit out is a joke when in cannot cater to all staff at once anyway. Please be careful who you vote for next time.

I WONDER how a department store might have coped or reacted, had one of their readily recognisable representatives, during her face-of-the-brand time as their ambassador, had gone to the beach toting a sandwich board showing one of the more controversial passages from the Bible. Everyone we know reckons that that would've meant the instant end of that relationship, and the consensus is that it's not at all surprising given the potential intimidation or offence to such huge numbers of people.

ISRAEL Folau's post has been on television, print and radio. How has his right as a wrong Christian to post crap been denied?
David Stallard, Mayfield
I CANNOT understand how any organisation can put an injunction on a person's right to work because of that person's personal views. Obviously, these views must fall within certain constraints. I don't think any court would support this injustice. Israel Folau never said that he was representing the views of Rugby Australia when he made the remarks at issue. I believe his comments were seen to be a warning and not an attack. Just who is being vilified here? This is a no-win situation for all concerned. What I find immoral is the suggested cost of $3 million for a court case.
Dennis Petrovic, Rutherford
I TOTALLY agree with John Cooper (Letters, 24/6). League is nothing now. I used to love taking the kids to all the Knights home matches when you could watch the under 23s and reserves prior to the main game. In those days you got value for money: good footy, a little biff and great banter from the fans. These days you get bash and barge for five tackles and a kick, then in comes the video ref with all the replays and they still get it wrong. Give me real football (soccer) any day.
