One of Maitland's oldest homes, Bridge House at 1 High Street, has been bought by a Sydney purchaser for $700,000. It is the highest sale for a Maitland home this year, according to Australian Property Monitors data. Maitland's median house sale price for this year is $400,000 for the first 15 sales. Last year it was $382,750 for 58 sales.

Bridge House was built circa 1825 by ex-convict Samual Clift on an estate on the western banks of Wallis Creek. The property now comprises three stand-alone buildings on 8042 square metres of land and attracted a lot of out-of-town interest, according to marketing agent James Rodrick, of Starr Partners.
Cain Beckett, of Jurd's Real Estate, said rural offerings in the Hunter Valley were also attracting out-of-area purchasers.
Three properties he had set for auction on August 29 have sold prior and another is under offer. He sold a mudbrick home and cottage on at 403 Wallaby Gully Road in Ellalong for its guide of $850,000 and a 200-acre property at Sweetman's Creek for its guide of $899,000.
Mount View's Bimbadeen Estate, which has been operating as tourist accommodation and has a guide of $1.8 million, is under offer.
Jurd's are also marketing a colonial style mudbrick home at Congewai with a guide of $1 million to $1.1 million and Bimbadeen Mountain Retreat at Mount View with a guide of high $1.4 millions to $1.5 million.
