In his maiden regular-season game returning to captain former club Waratah-Mayfield, Hudson will host his most recent University teammates at Waratah Oval on October 12.
The all-rounder spent the last two summers at University, but has previously had stints at Waratah and twice with Toronto, so will know what to expect in the Tom Locker Cup fixture.
Also in the draw, released this week, defending champions Toronto are away to Wallsend, T20 title holders Charlestown welcome Stockton, Merewether meet Belmont and Wests have City.
Minor premiers Hamilton-Wickham are at home to Cardiff-Boolaroo, who see Shannon Bills take over the captaincy from Nick Watkins.
The one-day section of the summer again occurs over the opening five rounds with the Tom Locker Cup final set down for November 10.
With the season starting seven days later than normal, after the October long weekend, there's one less two-day fixture in the top grade calendar.
A grand final replay between Toronto and Hamwicks doesn't take place until February (8, 15) at Ron Hill Oval.
Semis (21, 22) and deciders (28, 29) have been scheduled for mid-to-late March, but with No.1 Sportsground possibly out of action venues have yet to be allocated.
Newcastle City are preparing to use Learmonth Park.
The mid-season break is December 28 and January 4.
Meanwhile, Steve Taylor and Tom Anderson have been appointed coach and assistant coach of the Newcastle women's representative cricket team.
