Hunter, now with Sydney side Randwick-Petersham, returned to top score with an unbeaten 66 off 44 balls before taking 1-16 from four overs against the Waratahs (Waratah-Mayfield) at Waratah Oval.
The Sabres made 6-141 and restricted the Waratahs to 8-97 in reply.
The corresponding later game at Wallsend Oval got underway at 3:30pm following a half hour delay but was abandoned after 9.2 overs because of dangerous pitch conditions.
Hosts the Tigers (Wallsend) were 7-46 against the Kookaburras (Toronto).
The four earlier encounters scheduled for Sunday were washed out. Affected teams the Tigers, Lions (Merewether), Sea Dragons (University), Magic (Maitland), Waratahs, Magpies (Charlestown), Black Roses (Cardiff-Boolaroo) and Whips (Belmont) all received one point each.
Six matches are set for this week split evenly across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. First up the Tigers are away to the Magpies at Kahibah Oval while Maitland newcomers the Flood travel to meet the Black Roses at Pasterfield Sports Complex.
LADDER: Lions, Sea Dragons, Whips 4; Pumas, Rosellas, Sabres, Seagulls 3; Tigers 2; Black Roses, Kookaburras, Magic, Magpies, Waratahs 1; Flood 0.
