Police believe a man who was fatally stabbed in Raymond Terrace early Saturday morning may have been a resident of the small cul-de-sac where his body was discovered.

Officers were called to the scene near the intersection of Payton and Watt streets at Raymond Terrace around 5.45am where the found a man lying in the middle of the road.
Police and emergency services tended to the man, but paramedics said they were unable to revive him and he died at the scene.
Officers attached to the Port Stephens-Hunter police district established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
It is understood the man suffered a number of stab wounds to his chest.
Police were speaking with residents in the area on Saturday and have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
