A NSW Police spokeswoman confirmed the woman's arrest is connected to the Saturday incident, where Mr Adams was found bleeding from multiple stab wounds at the intersection of Payton Street and Watt Street at 5.45am.
He died at the scene.
The spokeswoman said officers attached to the Manning Great Lakes and Mid North Coast police districts attended a motel in North Haven around 12.30am on Monday and arrested the woman, 21, on an outstanding warrant.
"Detectives from Port Stephens Hunter Police District have travelled to Port Macquarie Police Station where she remains in custody," the spokesperson said. "Investigations are continuing."
No charges have been laid.
