The multi-million dollar project to remove the combustible material at the Broadmeadow venue has reached its halfway point after beginning in March.
The highly flammable cladding, which is similar to what fuelled London's Grenfell Tower inferno in mid-2017, is being removed from external walls of the grandstand and ticket boxes, and internally in the grandstand foyers and corridors.
It was first identified shortly after the London tragedy as part of a state-wide audit by the NSW Government Cladding Taskforce.
The new cladding will be of a similar colour to match other parts of the stadium, manager Venues NSW says.
The works are expected to be completed by August.
Regular stadium tenants the Newcastle Knights are currently playing their home games at Central Coast Stadium due to the NRL's COVID-19 protocols.
