Police on Friday charged the driver, a 20-year-old man, and the passenger, a 21-year-old woman, of the Holden Commodore which ploughed into the home of the Maitland suburb on Thursday afternoon following a pursuit.
The pair, who remain in John Hunter Hospital, were refused bail in bedside hearings to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Monday.

The driver was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous and, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
The passenger was charged with an outstanding warrant for traffic offences following an incident at Maitland in March this year.
Two adults and an infant were in the house at the time of the crash, about 2.30pm on Thursday, but none of them were injured.
