Glenrock State Conservation Area's access will be upgraded over the next 18 months, Environment Minister Matt Kean announced at the popular Hunter reserve on Friday.
Mr Kean said the money would help create higher quality trails and improved facilities for visitors.
"Glenrock is home to the last surviving pocket of coastal rainforest in the region and boasts some truly majestic coastal lookouts and beaches," Mr Kean said.
"We want to make it easier for locals and visitors to be able to enjoy these natural wonders."
Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Catherine Cusack said the park, one of the top 15 most visited in NSW, would benefit from improved accessibility.
The program's first stage is a $400,000 improvement of the walking track and gliding pad area at Hickson Street that was completed in May to make gliding safer and simplify access to Burwood beach.
Friday's announcement pours another $1.4 million into Glenrock's coffers and will upgrade the Yuelarbah and Leggy Loop walking tracks.
Car parks at Dudley beach and Yuelarbah will also be revamped.
The suite of upgades, which will also open the park to those with restricted mobility, is due for completion by 2022.
