The Goannas have also picked up former Knights hooker Chad Redman but in a body-blow, could lose strike centre Brayden Musgrove.
Former Knights junior Musgrove is back in the sights of the NRL club and has been handed a train-and-trial deal for the pre-season.
Knights recruitment boss Clint Zammit admits he is a Musgrove fan.
"I think he has a lot to offer to be honest but he has to want it," Zammit said. "He'll have his opportunity during pre-season training to show he does."
Cessnock coach Todd Edwards said the recruitment of Roberts-Davis and Edwards will strengthen his side.
"I'm really happy to see Brayden get another chance at the Knights because he is a talent and picking up Roberts-Davis will hopefully off-set that if we lose him," he said.
