EMERGENCY services were called to the scene of a serious crash between an Audi and truck in Hamilton overnight.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Gordon Avenue and Everton Street Hamilton about 7.30pm Saturday.
Police have been told the vehicles collided near Everton Street, causing the Audi A4 to hit a power pole, with the Hyundai Mighty small rigid truck coming to rest on its side on top of the Audi.
The truck driver and one of the men in the car were trapped inside the wreckage. Police Rescue and Fire and Rescue crews from Newcastle were able to extricate both men. The crash closed the area between Dumaresq and Skelton streets for some time while emergency crews worked to make the area safe and police crime scene investigated the scene.
Eight ambulance units were sent to the incident.
The driver of the Audi, a 26-year-old man, was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment and mandatory testing, along with his passenger, a 31-year-old man, who suffered a suspected broken arm.
The truck driver, a 46-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
The other occupants, a 41-year-old woman and a four-year-old boy, were able to free themselves. Both were taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment for minor injuries.
Circumstances of the crash remain under investigation and police are appealing for any dashcam footage, witnesses who saw the collision or attended the scene to contact Newcastle police station on 4929 0999.
