Ben Robinson, of Robinson Property, guided north of $2 million for the single-level brick house at 3 Beach Road.
There were four registered bidders and predominantly local interest but the property was secured by an out-of-town buyer. It is believed to be the third highest sale for the beachside suburb and a street record. A suburb record $2.725 million was paid for a home in Bentley Street this month.

Twenty-two bidders registered for the auction of a three-bedroom cottage at 28 Grove Street, Waratah that was marketed by Movable's Jason Maxwell with a guide of $600,000. It sold for a street record $830,000.
A Merewether home that had been in the same family since 1959 at 58 Merewether Street and was marketed by Robinson Property's Mike Flook with a guide of $1.5 million generated "a huge amount of enquiry" and 13 registered bidders before selling at auction for $1.77 million.
First National Newcastle City's George Rafty reported all nine properties they had set for auction last Saturday either before or at auction. Auction results included $915,000 for a three-bedroom townhouse at 10/22 Patrick Street, Merewether that was marketed with a guide of $800,000 to $880,000.
A four-bedroom house with a pool on a 322 square metre block at 115 Gipps Street, Carrington was sold by Belle Property Lake Macquarie at auction for $1.2 million.
Belle sold seven properties at auction over the weekend. There were 10 registered bidders for 31 Tiral Road in Charlestown. It sold for $753,000 after being marketed with a guide of $650,000. A two-storey home in a quiet cul-de-sac at 16 Finlay Close, Whitebridge sold at auction for $1.48 million. It had a guide of $1.35 million.
