The 21-year-old left back or winger has spent the past fortnight training with the Royals first team and club management are keen to have a closer look at him in trial on April 30.
Goodwin has an English passport and is coming off a break out season at the Jets.
The Adelaide-born left footer, won the A-League’s Young Player of the year for October and went on to make 25-appearances, 21 as a starter.
Before leaving England Goodwin told the jets website that ‘‘he did not have any expectations’’ but has done enough to secure a longer trial.
“I can’t express enough how great an opportunity it is,” he said.
“You don’t get these chances everyday, so for myself to have this chance is something I’m very thankful for.
“I don’t have any expectations heading over there really, I’m just open to a great experience.
“Particularly for myself as a younger player, it will be a great to learn and experience the game over there.”
Goodwin is half way through a two-year deal at the Jets, who are likely to command a sizeable transfer fee.
Reading sit at the bottom of the Premier League on 24 points and are odd-ons to be relegated to the Championship.
The Jets are on an off-season break and do not assemble for pre-season training until June.
Veteran striker flew to Malaysia today (Wednesday) to play an exhibition game for Ex-EPL All Stars.
