Third and fourth placed The Junction Hotel Yoga Loft and Maryville Tavern pulled out all the stops to advance to the finals.
As soon as the first whistle blew, Maryville Tavern’s defence stepped up and aided the side in an early lead, with Junction Hotel taking a little longer to settle into a rhythm.
The game continued in Maryville Tavern’s favour, with the second quarter starting at 12-6, and ending at 24-14 as the team pursued a tight defence throughout the court.
Though once the third quarter began, Junction Hotel came out with a new fire, and scored the first five goals of the quarter.
Junction Hotel’s circle defence worked extremely hard in this quarter, with their goal keeper and goal defence anticipating Maryville Tavern’s passes into and within the goal circle.
Junction Hotel won the quarter 12-8, though still behind on the overall score of 26-32. Although they had a six-point lead, Maryville Tavern needed all of their strength to hold on to their lead.
The final score saw Maryville Tavern hold out 40-34.
This Saturday, August 22, will see a showdown between first and second place, South Leagues Netball Club and Forsythes Business Advisors.
It will be played on court 9 in National Park at 2.30pm.
The winner will advance into the grand final, while the loser will face Maryville Tavern.
