The 3rd Annual Holmesville Billy Cart Derby 8am, Historic Holmesville Hotel. Billy cart registration starts at 7am, with the first race commencing at 9am. Entry is free. There will be a jumping castle, face painting, bungee run and a baby animal petting zoo to amuse the kids. Country rock band Ash Mountain will take to the stage about 3pm. Funds raised will be donated to support local community organisation, Mum’s Cottage, which offers counselling, mentoring, information and respite for families.
A-Plus Contracting Hunter Valley Mining Charity Rugby League Knockout Competition 8am to 5pm, Pirtek Park, Dunolly Road, Singleton. First game kicks off 9am. Entry fee: $5 per adult, $2 per child. After the success of last year’s Charity Rugby League Knockout Competition, 300 local miners will be swapping their work boots for footy boots for another action-packed day of State of Origin-worthy football action to raise funds for the community’s own Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. Apart from what is sure to be an entertaining day of football, there will be plenty of free entertainment off the field with jumping castles, amusement rides and face painting. Food stalls and bar facilities will be available on the day. Strictly no BYO.

West Wallsend District Sustainable Neighbourhood Group is once again sponsoring the Old Waste, New Art Competition, to run in conjunction with the Holmesville Billy Cart Derby.
