The service would run every 15 minutes during the week and every 30 minutes on weekends.
The company also said services on route 201 from Marketown would increase by 50 per cent next year and extend to Newcastle and Nobbys beaches.
“We have been consistently told that Newcastle needs better transport access to showcase the amazing beaches we have on offer,” Keolis Downer Hunter chief executive officer Campbell Mason said in a statement.
The announcement follows a commitment from Keolis Downer to run buses every 15 minutes on “key corridors” as part of its impending overhaul of the Newcastle Transport network.
The company will release its full plan late this month before implementing it in January.
