The Herald reported in May that the two clubs planned to merge. They have since entered into a memorandum of understanding on how the amalgamation will proceed, and bowling club members will meet on December 2 to vote on the plan.
In a note to members late last week, bowling club president Trevor Gasson confirmed that agents Colliers International had received a deposit and exchanged contracts on a $4.8 million sale.

“The board believes this value will enable the amalgamation partners [to] deliver wonderful benefits to the members of the new amalgamated club,” Mr Gasson wrote.
The golf club will build two new bowling greens near its clubhouse.
The bowling club was rebuilt nine years ago as part of a $35 million commercial redevelopment.
It sits on 5781 square metres in the heart of Belmont’s town centre, has views of Lake Macquarie and has a development height limit of 15 metres, or five storeys.
