The shrine, up against the window at the central Maitland Westpac branch, is located near one of Cox’s former haunts, the Maitland Levee.
Among the bright bunches of flowers stacked against the wall are messages scribbled on paper and stuck to the window, including one addressed to “Trevor our street angel”.
There’s also a lengthy poem, titled “A Bloke I Never Knew”.
Cox, 60, was found dead on Thursday morning after a lengthy illness.
His death prompted a huge outpouring of sentiment from the Maitland community, with many readers and commentators contributing stories about the individual commonly referred to as “Maitland’s homeless man”.
