Woolford is expected to leave early next week to take up the job as coach of Huddersfield Giants.
He will take over the reins of the bottom-placed Giants for the remainder of this season and a further two years following the sacking six weeks ago of former Knights coach Rick Stone.
Woolford’s departure leaves the Knights without a NSW Cup coach and NRL assistant, with Kostjasyn moving straight into the role.

The former North Queensland Cowboys premiership-winning hooker signed with the Knights for the 2017 season but didn’t play a game for the club after suffering a freak throat injury during pre-season training that eventually forced his early retirement.
He was employed by the Knights in a fulltime coaching and junior development role this season with his Harold Matthews Under 16’s side reaching the competition’s grandfinal qualifier before being beaten last weekend by Parramatta.
Former Wests Tigers premiership-winner Daniel Fitzhenry will continue in his role as Kostjasyn’s assistant.
The Knights are currently last on the ladder with just one win and a draw from eight matches in the NSW Cup.
