Julia Jacklin includes Cambridge Hotel on national tour

The 28-year-old announced her Australian tour on Thursday to support her forthcoming second album Crushing. The tour features a debut performance at the Cambridge Hotel on March 16.

It’s the same night as Kylie Minogue’s A Day On The Green performance at Bimbadgen, which was announced on Thursday.

Crushing is due for release on February 22.

Jacklin last performed in Newcastle in December 2016 at the Small Ballroom, shortly after the release of her celebrated debut album Don’t Let The Kids Win.

Since breaking internationally through her singles Pool Party and Leadlight, Jacklin has attracted rave reviews from critics for her dreamy combination of alt-country, folk and indie rock.

Jacklin’s recent single Body continues her whimsical nostalgic sound, but lyrically explores a darker theme of revenge and how one’s body can be used against them when Jacklin sings, “Do you still have that photograph?/Would you use it to hurt me?/Well, I guess it's just my life/And it's just my body.”

Jacklin is preparing to return to the UK later this month, after completing a busy year promoting the self-titled debut album from her three-piece Sydney band Phantastic Ferniture.

The indie-rock band, which also includes Liz Hughes (guitar) and Ryan Brennan (drums), wrapped up its sold-out national tour in August.
