HE MAY be able to keep his cool on the footy field, but Knights star Kalyn Ponga was not so laid-back when it came to a lap in one of the supercars.
The NRL star jumped in the passenger seat with Ford Bathurst winner Chaz Mostert at the wheel on Friday afternoon.
Amid the mayhem of day one of the Newcastle 500, Ponga was strapped in for the hot lap around the street circuit.
The cars reach speeds of more than 200 kilometres down the straight and it was clear from the video monitor that Ponga was not in his usual comfort zone.
