Newcastle Pride, an organisation that was established less than 12 months ago, won "Best Fair Day Stall of the Year" at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Awards, held on Thursday night.
Fair Day is a family-friendly event held on the opening weekend of the Mardi Gras season.
This year's Mardi Gras was the first Newcastle Pride has participated in, running a stall at Fair Day and marching in the parade.
"The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Awards recognise excellence across the 2019 season of events," Newcastle Pride founder Lee-Anne McDougall said.
"Newcastle Pride would like to thank a number of people who made this award possible including Judy Nadin from Rusty Vault who designed our branding for the marquee and other collateral used to decorate the stall, and, of course, our volunteers who helped with the stall on the day."
