Diving into icy waters below 12 degrees celsius, in front of a crowd estimated at 85,000, Iffland beat Canada's Lysanne Richard by more than 30 points, which Adriana Jimenez of Mexico claiming the remaining spot on the podium.

Her four-contest winning streak has equalled the record set by America's former world champion Rachelle Simpson.

After two events on this season's tour, Iffland, who learned to dive at Lambton pool under the tuition of Hunter Diving Academy coach Eric Brooker, is now a clear leader on the overall points score and well on her way to a fourth consecutive world title.

"The winning streak is a really cool feeling and a great confidence boost going into the rest of the year," the 27-year-old said afterwards.

"It was really tough today and I actually chose to not train today as I wanted to save my body and feel more comfortable and warmer up there on the platform.

"It was a great ambiance out today and it's a really nice feeling.

"They're standing out there in the cold as well so that makes it more manageable for us. It always helps when there is a big crowd.

"It gives you a bit more energy and I think a lot of the divers feed off.
