JOE Anthony Fenech - the man who caused the crash that killed three men at Cooranbong in 2010 - has had his bail revoked and will be detained in a mental health facility to serve his six-year "limiting term", bringing to an end the longest-running criminal matter in NSW.

Fenech, now 55, was drunk and speeding when he lost control on a sweeping left-hand bend on Freemans Drive, careering into a large tree and killing brothers Luke and Ben Ramsay, aged 25 and 27, and 45-year-old Rodney Field.
He faced a special hearing in October after he was found unfit due to a historic brain injury to stand trial on three counts of dangerous driving occasioning death.
A judge found Fenech committed the offences and imposed a six-year "limiting term", a period Fenech is recommended to serve in a mental health facility.
The final question was whether he could serve the term in the community or in compulsory detention. And on Friday, Fenech's bail was revoked and he was detained in a mental health facility.
