TWO neighbouring Hunter wine producers have beaten out some of the world's best to claim bragging rights at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
McGuigan Wines was awarded a Best in Show trophy at the London awards for one of its whites, the 2013 McGuigan Bin 9000 Semillion.
Brokenwood also took out a Best in Show award for the 2017 Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz. The Hunter wins by the two wineries whose Hunter properties adjoin made the region Australia's only wine precinct to claim two best in show winners.
"What a wonderful result for the Hunter Valley wine industry with two of the best grape varieties from this region being recognised on the world stage," McGuigan Wines chief winemaker Neil McGuigan said.
"We couldn't be happier for each other and the region."
