Director of CheerCon Alex Jimanez said this year's NSW event would be the biggest yet, involving almost all of the cheerleader gyms in Newcastle as well as teams from Sydney and Port Macquarie.
Mr Jimanez, who has been a cheerleader himself since 2008, said spectators could expect "high intensity routines, acrobatics with stunts, tricks and tumbling, as well as dance, music and general entertainment."
He said the event had grown from only 500 competitors since its inception in Newcastle six years ago.
"It's so much fun and it's a sport for people of all body and personality types. You just need a positive attitude."
