Regardless of the exact date, it was definitely their first triumph over the Blues since returning to the AFL Hunter Central Coast top flight competition last year.
And it certainly turned around a 159-point loss to the same opponents in round four.
Singleton (12.14-86) defeated City (6.3-39) will be a scoreboard to remember for the Roosters club.
"From what I've heard it was the first time we've beaten City at that level since the early 1990s," Scott said.
"So we were pretty happy to get the win over them."
Making the last-round victory even sweeter against the defending premiers, Singleton secured fifth spot on their own accord and now take extra confidence into this weekend's elimination semi-final at Muswellbrook's Weeraman Field.
The Roosters have also knocked off third-placed Cardiff and upcoming rivals Killarney Vale as part of seven wins from their last eight appearances.
"We had wanted to finish fifth and try to go as deep as we can [in finals]," Scott said.
"Maitland did us a favour by beating [sixth-placed] Warners Bay, but us getting the win [against City] put that out of the equation anyway.
"The big thing about the weekend, it gives us a bit more belief now."
Scott was impressed with his squad's overall performance.
"It was the way we went about it," he said.
"We moved the footy around pretty well and we were hard in contact.
"Both of those things are pretty important and contributed to what we did on the weekend."
In terms of the form streak, Scott admitted to being "on a roll" but hoped Singleton "hadn't peaked too early".
Scott praised the displays of Will Brayshaw, Jesse Bates and Cameron White.
"Will was really good, particularly in the first half, along with everyone across the backline," Scott said.
"To keep a side like that to 6.3, with only nine scoring shots in four quarters, is a fair effort."
City finish second on the competition ladder, eight points behind Terrigal Avoca (14.10-94) who beat Killarney Vale (7.9-51) to claim a third straight minor premiership and sixth in seven seasons.
Warners Bay (6.15-51) lost to seventh-placed Maitland (9.2-56) and now return to Max McMahon Oval on Saturday for a do-or-die encounter with Cardiff (16.10-106), who defeated Wyong Lakes (10.7-67). The Bulldogs will be without Ryan Sorenson (calf).
Nelson Bay (19.19-133) handed the wooden spoon to Gosford (8.7-55).
LADDER: Terrigal Avoca 68; Newcastle City 60; Cardiff 56; Killarney Vale 44; Singleton 40; Warners Bay 32; Maitland 20; Nelson Bay 16; Wyong Lakes, Gosford 12.
