But does the Hunter Region need another unique festival?
A competition being run Travel company Wotif - The Festival of Wot? - is offering one lucky Australian town just that.
Punters from around the country submitted ideas for the competition over recent months, and Wotif has this week released a shortlist of towns in the running to receive a new fully funded, one-day festival.
The promotion aims to encourage more Aussies to discover something new within Australia. Among the proposed festivals on the shortlist are a Festival of Redheads, Festival of Sausages, Festival of Mangoes, and Festival of Wheat, Wool & Wine.
Des Kennedy, the mayor of Mid-Western Regional Council, reckons the Festival of Sausages would be a massive boost for the drought-hit town of Mudgee.
"We're proud of our local wine, produce and meats that are grown and produced locally," he said.
"To host the Festival of Snags would reinforce Mudgee as a foodie destination. Our farmers are working tirelessly in tough drought conditions, so hosting the Festival of Snags will be a great opportunity to put our farmers and their amazing products on display."
The Festival of Redheads was proposed for Maryborough in Queensland.
While the town isn't famous for redheads, Martin Simons of Fraser Coast Tourism and Events is certain it would be a winner.
"I'm sure the Festival of Redheads would put us on the map, adding a unique dimension to our vibrant event and tourism calendar," he said.
The Festival of Wheat, Wool & Wine has been pitched for Clare Valley in South Australia. The festival would incorporate more than 40 cellar doors. The Festival of Mangoes is slated for Bowen, a region renowned for growing the tasty fruit.
The Festival of Redheads would put us on the map.

You can vote for which of the four short-listed festivals you believe should win at wotif.com/festival until September 29.
While they didn't make the cut, some of the festivals nominated for the Hunter included: a Festival of Pirates, given the number of shipwrecks around Newcastle Harbour and the surrounding beaches; a Festival of Burgers, bringing all the burger places in Newcastle together; a Festival of Art, which Wotif said was because "there's more artists per capita in Newcastle"; a Festival of Waters, due to the beautiful surrounds of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie; and a Festival of Dance/Tap, although Topics is not sure of its relevance.
