McLellan was out for almost three months after a barrier accident at Scone on May 31. Two months into his comeback, McLellan made the most of his chances aboard My Zebrinka ($2.60) and Bright Rubick ($1.80).
My Zebrinka, a five-year-old, had his first win in three starts for trainer Peter Bloomfield after coming from the stables of Ron Quinton.
McLellan gave My Zebrinka a rails run behind leader Titaness before it edged ahead to win by three-quarters of a length in the benchmark 66 handicap (1450m).
It was fourth in his previous two starts when carrying 60 and 61 kilograms. It had 56.5kg on Tuesday.
"It had been racing all right but it had been carrying big weights. It had been trying, but you could feel it weighing him down," McLellan said.
"I said to them to put it up in grade so the weight drops and the race turned out weak anyway, and it won well."
Bright Rubick, a three-year-old filly, won the class 1 handicap (1280m) by almost two lengths to make it two from two with trainer John Ramsey at Muswellbrook. She was with Bjorn Baker and had raced in the group 2 Riesling and Furious Stakes.
"She got beat 4.4 lengths in the Golden Slipper trial, so she's better than them here," McLellan said. "I think a midweek city race is not beyond her."
The wins took McLellan to six since returning.
"The leg is terrific and I just had to get a bit of fitness back and obviously you need a bit of luck to get going," he said.
