Police arrested the 37-year-old Lake Macquarie man at a Belmont property on Tuesday morning.
The arrest follows an investigation that began in June after a number of images were allegedly found on a computer.
Police searched a Belmont property on July 3 and seized hard drives, mobile phones and computers.
On Tuesday police took the man to Belmont police station and charged him with offences including two counts of possess child abuse material, film persons private parts and possess ammunition without permit.
He was refused bail to face Belmont Local Court on Tuesday.
The matter will return to court again on November 20.
